Create from Folder turns filenames into a song list. It does not upload your audio, copy your songs into BingoBeats, or make that original folder a permanent playlist location.
Prepare the folder and song names
Place the songs you want to list directly inside the folder you will select. The website's folder builder ignores nested folders, so songs only inside a child folder will not be included.
Use filenames such as Artist - Song Title.mp3 or Song Title - Artist.mp3. Choose the matching order in the builder. The tool reads filenames, not embedded audio tags.
Prepare 80–100 unique songs for the final selection. Supported extensions are mp3, mp4, wav, m4a, aac, flac, ogg, wma, avi, mkv, mov, mpg and mpeg. A recognized extension does not guarantee your chosen playback software supports that file.
Select your folder
- On the Music page, open Create from Folder, then choose Select Folder.
- Allow the browser to access the selected folder. The builder uses the filenames to prepare the list; it does not upload the audio contents.
- Choose Artist - Title or Title - Artist to match the filenames, then enter a recognizable playlist name.
- Review the resulting rows before creating the list. If you change the filename order after editing, read the reset warning because the rows will be parsed again.
Check every artist and title
- Use the row's Artist and Song title fields to correct reversed or incomplete entries.
- For names containing several spaced dashes, check the split and use Confirm artist and title when prompted.
- Use Show issues to focus on entries that still need attention.
- Use the selection checkboxes to choose the final 80–100 songs. Duplicate artist-and-title combinations cannot both be included.
- Changing the text in the builder changes the saved song information, not the filenames on your computer. Check that your playback matching still finds the intended recordings.
Create the list or download its JSON
The JSON stores the playlist name, identifier and song titles/artists. It does not store the audio files or their original folder paths. Keep a downloaded copy if you want a separate record of the song list.

Do songs have to stay in the original folder?
No. Once the custom list has been created, the songs do not have to remain in the folder used to build that list.
For VirtualDJ Connector playback, the actual music files do have to be in the selected media directory available to the connector. Moving them outside that directory can make the saved song list impossible to play even though the list itself still looks correct.
After moving or renaming music, scan again in the connector and review the matches. Keep the correct drive connected during the event, and confirm that each saved title and artist resolves to the recording you intend to play.
With external playback, make sure your external player can still locate the music. In either case, a JSON list is not a backup of the audio.
Understand what happens when songs change
A saved custom list is a snapshot. Adding files to the original folder later does not automatically add songs to the list, and removing files does not remove the saved song entries.
When the song selection changes, review and create the revised list with a new name. The builder rejects a name already used by one of your custom playlists; it does not silently replace that list.
Before hosting, choose the saved list, select an available playback method and test several songs. Resolve missing or incorrect matches before guests join.
Common questions
Can I delete my songs after downloading the JSON?
The JSON contains song information only. You still need the audio for local playback; do not treat the JSON as a music backup.
Why are some files missing from the folder review?
Check that they are directly inside the selected folder and use a supported extension. Nested folders are ignored. Duplicate entries also need review.
Why does my playlist name already exist?
Your account already has a custom list with the same normalized name. Give the revised list a distinct name; changing only capitalization or punctuation may still produce the same name.
Why is a song title in the artist field?
Check the selected filename order. Choose the order that matches most files, then correct individual exceptions before saving.
Does correcting a title rename the music file?
No. It changes the list entry. Review connector matches if the edited song information no longer matches your files clearly.
